Chapter 15
How to Build This From Zero
A Step-by-Step Path for New Coaches
This chapter is for people starting from nothing. No audience. No testimonials. No coaching experience. Just the decision to build a coaching business that actually works. What follows is not advice. It is a sequence.
Step 1: Decide What You Are Building
You are not building a one-to-one coaching business. You are building a group-first coaching system that runs on a clear framework, produces visible results, and feeds qualified clients into higher levels of access.
If you start with one-to-one, you cap your growth immediately. Group coaching is not a downgrade. It is the foundation.
Step 2: Pick a Fixed Time and Go Live Weekly
You need exactly one thing to start: A weekly live group call. Same day. Same time. Every week. No flexibility. No rotating schedules. No "we'll see who turns up."
Consistency creates gravity. People organise their week around things that don't move.
Step 3: Use a Simple Intake Form for Context
Before anyone is coached live, collect basic context:
- Who they are
- What their business is
- How the business makes money
- What they believe their global objective is
Nothing more. The intake exists so you don't waste live time asking obvious questions.
Step 4: Run the Framework Live, Exactly as Written
Your job on the call is not to entertain, motivate, or impress. Your job is to run the framework. Every time someone is coached, you move through the same sequence:
- Global Objective
- Milestones
- Current Focus
- What Didn't Work
- What Worked
- Brainstorm
- Commitment
- Next Action
- Execution
- Deadline and Tracking
You do not skip steps. You do not reorder steps. You do not soften steps. The framework is the teacher. You are the guide.
Step 5: Let the Group Learn by Watching
You do not need to coach everyone every week. The value of group coaching comes from watching the framework applied and seeing thinking corrected in real time. People learn faster this way than through private conversations.
Step 6: Start Free or Cheap, Then Stabilise
If you are brand new, start free or low-cost. Your early goal is not income. Your early goal is proof and competence. Once attendance stabilises and people are getting results, add a price. Do not rush this.
Step 7: Introduce One-to-One as an Upgrade
Do not sell one-to-one publicly. One-to-one is offered inside the group. When a slot opens, you announce it live. First person ready and present gets it.
This rewards attendance, filters commitment, and removes selling entirely.
The One Thing That Matters Most
Do not try to be clever. Do not add layers. Do not invent variations. Do not customise the structure.
Run the framework. Hold the loop. Repeat. That is how you go from zero to a real coaching business without burning out, begging for clients, or pretending momentum exists.
You don't need confidence. You need a system you're willing to run every week. That's it.
